About
How Lockup Lookup works
Lockup Lookup is a free guide to the official places people need when someone they know has been arrested — jail and prison rosters, registries, courts, probation and parole, impound lots, and driver license offices.
Free and private
- No cost, no account. Nothing on the site is paid, and there is nothing to sign up for.
- We don’t store what you type. A name you enter is used in your browser to build search links to official sites. It is not saved to a database or sent to us.
- Your state, not your address. Some pages preselect your state from the approximate location your connection reports. We never ask for GPS access, and you can change the state at any time.
- Basic, anonymous analytics. We count page visits (through Google Analytics) to learn which pages help people most. That data does not include the names you search for.
Where the records come from
We do not copy, host, or resell records. Every button opens the agency that keeps the record, so what you see is always its current version.
Jails & prisonsCounty sheriff rosters, state departments of corrections, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons
Sex offender registriesEach state’s official registry plus the national NSOPW search
CourtsState and federal court websites, calendars, and case records
Probation & paroleThe state agency that supervises each person
Impounded vehiclesState motor vehicle agencies and local police
Driver licensesThe Utah Driver License Division, with more states coming
Records can lag or contain errors. If something looks wrong, the agency that published it is the
only one that can correct it. How to confirm you have the right person.
What Lockup Lookup can’t do
- We are not a law enforcement agency, court, or law firm, and we are not affiliated with any of them.
- We cannot look up a record for you, confirm someone’s identity or custody, or release a person, vehicle, or property.
- We never accept payments and never contact anyone asking for money. Learn the common scams.
- We cannot give legal advice. Find legal help.
